How long have you been with Sprouts Farmers Market?

I started my grocery career when I was 19 years old and enjoyed the atmosphere so much, I made it my career. I’ve been with Sprouts since January 2010. I started as a grocery clerk and moved my way up to store manager.

Are you from the Memphis area or new to this market?

I relocated to the southeast from my Colorado home because I was excited to bring Sprouts to the Southeast region. I’m loving calling Memphis home.

What do you think customers will first notice that makes Sprouts different from other food retailers?

Sprouts is the grocery store that makes healthy living easy and affordable. I think customers will first notice our easy and relaxed farmer’s market feel and our open, inviting layout. We have low sight lines in our store, which helps Sprouts deliver the best customer service because our team members can see customers and vice-versa.

We’ve heard that Sprouts is famous for their produce—how much of it is organic and/or locally sourced?

At Sprouts we offer high-quality produce at low prices. Guests will find we have significant savings on fruits and vegetables. We believe produce is the heart of healthy living, which is why you’ll find mountains of fresh produce in the center of our store. Organic and local products vary by store – we strive to offer a variety of produce including organic, local and conventional to ensure we are offering the greatest value for our guests.

Will you have an in-house butcher and baker? Is there a deli for customers to purchase & eat in the store?

At Sprouts, we call our meat department the Sprouts’ Old Tyme Butcher Shop. Our meat department is a refreshing return to quality sourcing, product variety, old world butcher’s handiwork and unbeatable value pricing. Our trained butchers can custom-cut any meat just the way you want it. We also bake a variety of bakery items right in the store, including delicious breads, muffins and deserts. We offer selections of gluten-free breads, cookies, sugar-free pies and vegan-baked items. In the Sprouts deli, guests will find a broad array of Mediterranean dips, satisfying salads and Boar’s Head premium cold cuts. We have a self-serve olive bar, fresh, hand-rolled sushi and made-to-order sandwiches.

I recall reading that excess produce is donated to local food banks. How else will the store give back to the community?

At Sprouts, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. At the end of each day, Sprouts donates all unsold and edible but not marketable groceries to Feeding America and their local affiliate hunger relief agencies as part of our local Food Rescue Program. We also are proud to give by back by supporting local non-profit and educational institutions that share our goal of improved health, nutrition and fitness.

What impression do you hope customers will take away from shopping at Sprouts?

Part of Sprouts’ passion is to inspire, education and empower every person to eat healthier and live a better life. I hope our guests in Tennessee will leave our store thinking, “Sprouts makes healthy living possible for me.”
