Tons to do (& eat!) Around Town

High School Football offers two district games:  Arlington HS (6-2) at Millington Central Trojans (5-3).  Both teams are 3-0 in the district.  Bolton HS (1-6) at Bartlett (1-7).  Wildcats have a slight edge over Panthers (1-2 vs. 0-3).  Both games kick off at 7:00 pm.

At the Arlington BBQ FallFest, Friday Night is Community Night—come and enjoy Grand Theft Audio onstage from 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm (FREE!). The Arlington Chamber of Commerce will be selling BBQ sandwich meals, including beans, slaw, and a drink.  Cost is $5.

On Saturday morning, the Ashley Scott Memorial 5K, in memory of a former teacher at Bolton High School, raises funds for Abused Women’s Services in Memphis and Shelby County. Race starts at 8:00 am.  Registration information available at racesonline.com.

Arlington’s Historic Depot Square will be busy all day.  Special Exhibitions  — “Sewing and Canning” and “Halloween in the Vault” —  are on display at the Rachel H.K. Burrow Museum Chester St. and Walker St. from 10:00 am – 6:000 pm.  Live Blacksmithing demonstrations will be held from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Blacksmith Shop.

At 4:00 pm., bring the little ones to the Harvest Festival in Depot Square, sponsored by the Depot Square Merchants Association for games, concessions, and a hayride.  A costume contest for ages 0-12 will be at 6:00 pm on the stage.  While you’re there, walk on down to Arlington United Methodist Church for the Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser ($12/adults, $6/kids 6+-12).  Stay a little later and hear crowd favorite Twin Soul perform at the final Music on the Square of 2013 back in the square.
